Boating and sailing are amongst the fastest growing activities in Zadar and its surrounding areas. Many sailors from around Europe come to Zadar with their yachts in order to explore its hundreds of islands!

The most popular daytime summer activity for Locals and Tourists in Zadar is going to the beach. Zadar boasts some of the cleanest beaches in all of Europe!

Zadar is a very old city, its history dates back 3 thousand years. A popular thing to do in the city is to view its ancient architechture. Structures in the city date from Roman to modern times!

Zadar has many beautiful ancient churches.There you will find priceless works of art. Zadar's most famous church (one of the most important monuments of pre-Romanesque architecture) is St.Donat, built in the 9th century.

A trip to Zadar would be incomplete without visiting its magnificent islands. These islands are easily accessible by local ferry, charters or private boats. One can literally spends months discovering Croatia's wonderful islands (View a photo of one of Zadar's most popular islands "Pasman").

What would a good vacation be without shopping? Expect to find a very favourable exchange rate! Come visit downtown Zadar, walk the walled city's famous narrow streets and shop till you drop!.

One of the true treasures of Zadar is the Golden Sarcophagus of St.Simeon (the man, enriched by the Holy Spirit, who held the baby Jesus and addressed the Virgin Mary and St.Joseph on Jesus' greatness). In the gold coffin one can see the incorrupt body of this great Saint. The body lies in St.Simeon's Church in downtown Zadar. The people of Zadar are perhaps the city's main attraction. Wherever you go, you will be greated with warm smiles and kind faces. Come to Zadar to see the beautiful Dalmatian people. Click the sun to see a few of Zadar's beautiful people (including Korina Longin). .


When in Zadar one must visit the ancient town of Nin, around 15km north of the city. Nin is the island city of many wonders. It has an ancient Roman theatre (still in good condition) and the Church of the Holy Cross (800 AD) deemed to be the smallest cathedral in the world. Nin also has a natural wonder, it is known as the mud of Nin. This mud, only located around the town of Nin, contains many theraputic elements. Some say it has the ability to make one look and feel younger!

Zadar is a city with very good museums and many art exhibits. Expect to find great varieties of artistic style and influence.

If you enjoy the history of religious conquest, visit Zemunik (10 minutes from Zadar). Zemunik is a small, but important Croatian city where Islamic expansion into Europe was halted.

If you like to sing, dance and party, Zadar is the place for you. Zadar hosts Musical Evenings in Donat" a summer festival which contains baroque, renaissance and medieval musical performances. Zadar hosts many other open air festivals in the summer, during these festivals expect to find the streets filled with thousands of spectators, many musical groups and makeshift cafes.

If discos, dancing and leisurly evenings are your cup of tea, Zadar is the place to be. Zadar is marked by hundreds of cafes and restaurants of all sizes, which run into the morning hours. If you want to dance at a club with a couple thousand of your closest friends, then go to Disco Saturnis in Zaton (10 minutes North of Zadar) or Club Max in Petrcane. These are without question two of the best dance clubs on the Adriatic. If you prefer something a little more intimate, downtown Zadar has what your looking for!
